Laci Jordan, a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and creative director, is a self-proclaimed dream builder, world creator, and risk taker whose favorite medium is “color and curiosity.” Yeah, we’re obsessed.

As a featured artist for Google Play’s Black History Month, we captured Jordan and her work in all its boundless, vibrant, technicolored power, culminating in a film and motion graphics of her illustrations.

The Ask

Bring the art and artist to life, celebrating the “boldness, flyness, and representation of Black people.”

Staying agile

We had a single production day in LA to shoot Jordan and capture her passion, style, and influence. Our LA-based team showed up at multiple locations across the city with the enthusiasm and drive to document her creative vision and personality, proving that a tight, nimble team can be even more effective than a giant one.

The Idea

Use animation and live-action to match the energy of Jordan’s bold illustrations, and capture the artist in her community and source of inspiration.

Creating a impactful system for its users

To capture Laci’s energy, our in-house creative and production teams led graphics and motion design, shoot production, and editing to promote her partnership with Google Play. The result was a highly-impactful social film that got over 49,000 views and expanded the artists reach.

Our vision was to bring Laci to life — her personality, her voice, her art. We pulled interview quotes and designed them in full technicolor. Alongside live-action footage and her illustrations, these works represent how she sees the world. “I want people of color to be represented, Black women in particular, and I do that by my art and not be afraid to show up in the world," Laci Jordan shared while filimg.
