Beyond The Box
Big companies leave big footprints on the world, in more ways than one.
It’s one of the reasons Amazon committed to building a sustainable business, for their customers and for the planet, co-founding The Climate Pledge, a commitment to be net zero carbon by 2040.
Although they announced this initiative globally, they wanted to inspire and educate their audience in a more human-centered way, one that informed, yet sparked delight and intrigue.


The Ask

Amazon wanted to share its sustainability efforts in a creative, engaging, and inspired way - adding value to its message, not just the facts.



Expanding Possibility
While Amazon was engineering new ways to shrink the material footprint of their packaging, we were dreaming up ways to expand their mission’s reach through engaging and resonant storytelling. What better starting point than the most recognizable, most well traveled box in the world?
The Idea
Expand the consumer experience by reimagining the iconic Amazon box to be as big as imagination itself.
Beyond the Box
We concepted, created, and delivered a campaign of animated videos that reimagined a new life for the Amazon box post-delivery. These animations reflected a playful, friendly tone, while sharing how Amazon re-engineered its packaging to be more planet and people friendly.
We collaborated with Amazon’s packaging experience and innovation teams to include a printed QR code on each box that would take folks to an animated video, as well as an arts-and-crafts how-to for building a robot, a spaceship, a cat condo, and a race-car. The possibilities are endless when thinking outside the box.




Building a bigger story
We also leveraged our design language to create a series of videos that focused on Amazon’s greater Climate Pledge initiatives, sharing ways their future-forward mission empowers customers and manufacturers alike, from “frustration-free packaging” to contributing to the greater good.

With each box and each story, we helped connect Amazon to its audience in ways that were meaningful, relevant, and fun.
Sharing Amazon’s sustainability story allowed them to deepen their relationships to their customers, their partners, and even their team. This work led to Revery collaborating with Amazon on a larger global campaign that told the next chapter of their climate change initiatives.
