Black Ambition —

Decode the Encoded

Among founders of VC-backed companies, only 3% are Black or Latinx. Black Ambition, a nonprofit organization, aims to close this wealth and opportunity gap, by funding, connecting, and founding a movement to change the status quo. 

We joined them to realize and amplify their mission, providing strategic program guidance, developing content, curriculum, and learning modules, and crafting and launching a campaign all while designing the culminating prize experience. Across our collaboration, our goal was to empower Black Ambition to effect sweeping change.

The Ask

Black Ambition was new, and they needed to connect to millions of people to amplify their mission and enact palpable change for the future.

Ambition to Mission

The heart of our platform was “Decode the Encoded,” a purpose-driven content series that provided unprecedented access to Black and Latinx leaders. We developed the strategic narrative framework, and created a permanent library of learning content in the form of Keynotes, Workshops, and Office Hours — all to help train, educate, and empower future founders. 

The Idea

Create ongoing momentum for Black and Latinx success through a monetary prize, invaluable connections and mentorship, and access to education created by and for this community. 

We worked directly with visionaries like Pharrell Williams and his non-profit YELLOW, an organization set to even the odds through education, and Virgil Abloh, the inimitable designer and artist. We also managed the relationship with Black Ambition’s streaming partner for the complex tech stack that enabled the event’s prize and virtual participation.

Being at the center of these collaborations allowed us to lead multiple teams and projects, making sure our expressions were cohesive and on mission across every single touchpoint. Instead of a single interaction, it was important that our content supported an ongoing experience setting participants up for continued support and success. 

Big Love

We created an evergreen learning library; developed the prize journey to include fireside chats, live mentor sessions, and how-to’s; built and ran a live event with musical performances, keynote speeches, and an award’s ceremony; and concepted and launched a marketing campaign to accelerate its reach.

Rather than just an event, monetary prize, or website, the culmination of Black Ambitions’ impact is an investment in a collective future, one that champions the belief that your ideas are capable of changing the world, and that we can — and must — fight for an equitable reality.

Expanding beyond content

We produced every part of Demo Day, Black Ambition’s live, 2-day digital event, creating its digital assets, running rehearsals and tech calls, operating a command center, and managing crowd participation with over 1000 attendees. It was an exemplary powerhouse of Black excellence, connection, and advocacy.

Cultivating Connection

From capturing dozens of humanist stories from cultural thought leaders, to producing a large scale, digital multi media awards ceremony, our close partnership was a crucial part of the organization's success.

Our dedicated team provided practical power behind Black Ambition's launch, ensuring that every touchpoint was valuable, thoughtful, and aligned with their ethos. But we also helped realize their strategic foundation, setting them up for years of impact.
